The fabulous website www.natureconnection.co.uk has been hugely influential to my own Forest School learning journey, and I highly recommend the books and courses on offer by Chris Holland, an outdoor educator, storyteller and musician.
His book I Love My World is top of my list of recommended reads for Forest School practitioners, teachers and parents.
Some of the courses available include:
The Storytelling for Outdoor Learning Year Course (online)
The Storyteller's Playbook(online)
National Storytelling Practice Retreat at Trill Farm, 28th September 2018
The Natural Musician's Training Course at Trill Farm, 28-30 September 2018

Huathe is the company that delivered my own Forest School training and I would recommend them to anyone who is considering undertaking the training.
Huathe has been delivering Forest School and Forest School training since 2009. Over that time they have delivered hundreds of hours of Forest School to children aged from under 1 to 15 and trained Forest School leaders in the UK, Ireland and China. They are one of the few organisations to be endorsed to have their training endorsed by the Forest School Association and specialise in local bespoke training that fit their participants' needs. This year, their scheduled training programmes reflect their relationships with partners in East Anglia, Galway and Guangxi Province.
Carol Middleton and Elizabeth Swift are the co-founders of huathe. They are qualified as Forest School leaders, teachers and Early Years Professionals and experienced in mentoring and nature connection learning. Between them they have over 30 years of practice experience. They are based in East Anglia.
They offer bespoke and established packages for INSET and CPD in schools and colleges. Working with the 8 shields, nature-centric model of leadership and practice, they are passionate about the work they do and are skilled at training, leading and delivering this highly effective way of working. Local, national and international links mean that they are able to keep at the front of best practice.
Their projects are unique, drawing on first hand international teaching in nature connection combined with a deep understanding of child development and group dynamics. This means they are able to use Forest School as therapeutic learning; tailoring each project to build on group and individual experience and need, over a long period of time (usually at least 3 months). Child or person centred, with a strong emotional environment – their outcomes are evidenced in their participants’ growing self esteem, in the communities they build and in the impact their nature connection has in other areas of their lives.

Explore Outdoor is a mobile outdoor education programme that began life in 2013 delivering activities in Suffolk. Explore Outdoor is part of Abbeycroft Leisure and now delivers sessions across East Anglia and beyond. Their experienced outdoor instructors are able to deliver safe, exciting, and educational sessions to all ages and abilities. They pride themselves on their flexibility and tailor all of their sessions to the need of the client. They have a wealth of experience working with both adults and children.
I worked with Frank from Explore Outdoor for a year and a half and we ran Forest School sessions together at West Stow. His sessions are always brilliantly delivered - he captivates the children effortlessly and has a warm but authoritative personality. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work and learn alongside him. Their activity days are brilliant, and the children particularly love doing archery with him. Explore Outdoor currently offer Home Education Forest School sessions at Nowton Park and help us to run sessions at The Hive.

Nature Connection World
A new global community where people looking for a deeper relationship with the natural world can connect with people who have found a deeper connection with nature.
We are at the dawn of a large-scale re-connection with nature. I believe the conscious awakening to this deep relationship has the ability to transcend previous environmental movements and reshape our world. This undercurrent is gaining momentum and influencing every element of our lives.
This longing for more Nature Connection is awakening first in those who have the ability and passion to guide others. They are emerging all over the world and creating ways to reconnect us with nature, each other and our own true inner nature.
Nature Therapy, Forest Therapy, Natural Mindfulness, Shinrin yoku/Forest Bathing, Ecotherapy, ForestMind, Forest Schools and Rewilding are just a few of the many wonderful nature-connection opportunities evolving to encourage people to form a new relationship with nature.
Science is also confirming what generations of humans have sensed for thousands of years, that forests and natural landscapes heal us.
The mission of this evolving online community is to provide a space for nature-based activity providers to promote their Nature Connection activities/experiences so more and more people can explore opportunities to develop a deeper connection with nature and their own true nature.
Whether you are an activity provider or a visitor seeking nature connection opportunities, click here to join us.
